Simon Trummer is convincing in Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

Last weekend, the 7th IMSA WeatherTech Series championship race took place on the ultra-fast 3.7 kilometre long traditional race track of Bowmanville in Canada. Simon Trummer and his team mate, Robert Alon, used this opportunity to put their “Banana Boat #85” of JDC-Miller Motorsports into play, but as a result of a failed pit stop, could not achieve better than 8th position…

Question: After a glimmer of hope in Watkins Glen you gave a strong performance again in Canada and still had the third fastest lap…

Simon Trummer: “Yes I don’t think we have too many regrets. My teammate also qualified the car for the third starting place and I myself was out in front for the whole race weekend. Without the time lost at the pit stop we could have easily ended up in the top 5. That really surprised me because the track was completely new for me. We didn’t really expect to be so competitive straight away.”

Question: The Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, which was previously known as Mosport Park is one of the fastest race tracks in North America…

Simon Trummer: “I watched a few on-board videos and already knew beforehand that the track would be down to me. It was also the case previously in Watkins Glen. It was only a shame that, in this very strong class, there are so many factors that play a part in the race and so far we have simply been lacking in some areas.“

Question: In any case you have delivered an error free performance and have demonstrated that you can do well on the fast tracks…

Simon Trummer: “Maybe I should try it in the oval track sometime (laughing).”

Question: Of course, that is an argument if we were talking about Indycar or even NASCAR …

Simon Trummer: “It is still too early to talk about that, but I will admit that I am considering it at the moment. There are some people who have already encouraged me in that direction and are convinced that racing in the oval track would suit me. In any case I would like to try it at least once.”

Question: Back to the WeatherTech Sportscar Championship with a guest appearance at the start of August in Road America, another classic…

Simon Trummer: “I like all these race tracks with their typical character and that is one reason why I feel so comfortable in American motorsports. I would also like to spend more time over there, but my next flight is back to Switzerland to celebrate my father’s birthday with my family. Without him and his support I could never have realised my dreams in motorsports.”

Thank you and good luck!
